Knowing what you are entitled to as a student is important. York is one of the leading schools in mental health as we recently developed a new mental healthcare plan (2016) for the growing crisis on mental health.<\/p>\n

Students with mental or physical disabilities are entitled to academic accommodations and financial funding. Students with any disability can excel at school. This article is meant to help those who may be struggling. This article will explain the: who\/what\/where\/when of these resources.<\/p>\n

Who is Entitled to Accommodations?<\/h2>\n

Anyone is entitled to these accommodations, for psychiatric accommodations you will have to visit the Bennett Centre located at York for an assessment. After the assessment, your consoler will give you the papers and recommendation needed for the accommodations.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For physical, sensory and medical services, you will need to contact PSMD services who will initiate an intake appointment, after that they will determine financial compensation and give you the forms needed for academic accommodation. They can also be located at the Bennett Centre.<\/p>\n

What is Academic Accommodation?<\/h2>\n

Academic accommodation allows an individual to have a smaller course load (instead of 30 credits each semester which is the recommended amount to graduate within 4 years) you will be able to have a smaller work load.<\/p>\n
